Dr. Steven Ess-Founder, Clinic Director
Dr. Ess opened Rochester Chiropractic Associates, P.C. in August of 2003. He attended the State University of New York Upstate Medical School at Syracuse, New York, where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree. After participating in and co-authoring research in the Department of Neurology, he developed a desire to pursue graduate school at the New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York.
While attending graduate school, he received the Clarence Flick Research Award, which is given for successful publication of a professional research paper as a graduate student in the chiropractic profession. Continuing his training, he participated in post doctorate education, including digital dynamic motion x-ray, becoming certified by Florida State University in August 2001. He also completed his Masters Certification program for cervical acceleration/deceleration trauma, whiplash related disorders, and temporomandibular joint disorders from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego.
In May of 2004, he returned to Florida State University where he became certified in Functional Imaging and Anatomy. In August 2004, he attended the Spine Research Institute of San Diego’s Crash Forensics Risk Assessment and Biomechanics of Trauma Seminar. He attended Texas Chiropractic College for post doctorate certification to perform Manipulation Under Anesthesia or MUA in October of 2011. In October of 2014 Dr. Ess became nationally certified by the American Association of Sensory Electrodiagnostic Medicine to perform and interpret small pain fiber nerve conduction study (pf-NCS) electrodiagnostic exams (EDX). He has been a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in the state of New York since April of 2000, and has also been licensed by the State of Vermont as a Chiropractic Physician since 2009. He is an active member of the American Chiropractic Association and the New York State Chiropractic Association. He also participates in continuing medical education with the Rochester Spine Study Group as part of the University of Rochester Medical Center Department of Orthopedics. Dr. Ess strives to have the best possible outcomes for patients and works in conjunction with various medical specialists in the Rochester community to co-treat and manage cases with severe injuries, including orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, physiatrists, and pain intervention specialists.
Dr. Ess enjoys spending time with his family and participates in outdoor sports and recreation.
Dr. Adam Cassel-Associate Doctor
Dr. Adam Cassel graduated from Duquesne University in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, with a specific focus on athletic training. He then attended New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York where he graduated in 2009 with a Doctorate of Chiropractic. In addition to his degrees, Dr. Cassel has received certifications in both Graston Technique and Kinesiotaping. After graduating from New York Chiropractic College, he moved to Pennsylvania where he practiced Chiropractic for two years and gained the necessary experience to provide the highest quality of patient care. He has experience not only in chiropractic, but also sports performance, aquatic therapy, therapeutic exercise and spinal rehabilitation. In January 2014 Dr. Cassel obtained his certification in Manipulation Under Anesthesia from Southern California University Health Sciences. In May of 2014 he became nationally certified by the American Association of Sensory Electrodiagnostic Medicine to perform and interpret small pain fiber nerve conduction study (pf-NCS) electrodiagnostic exams (EDX).
He joined Rochester Chiropractic Associates in May of 2011 and he continues to provide the highest quality of chiropractic care, along with all of the members of the Rochester Chiropractic Associates team. Dr. Cassel enjoys spending time with his wife, Michele, son, Hudson and their dog, Peyton. He enjoys staying physically active by playing softball, basketball, running and lifting weights.
